Just watched Baise Moi last night after renting from Netflix. Pretty graphic film. The rape/sex scenes were quick, but in full-on porno style, and the violence was heavy too, particularly in one scene at the end. I'd be interested to hear what anyone else thought about this one.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews for this film, but maybe I'll rent it. What do you think, is it a good date movie?

Patrick, you're lucky to have gotten it from NetFlix. How long did you have to wait? I've had it at the top of my list for several weeks now and still have not received it.

At least now it's showing up as Short Wait. For a while there it was in the Long Wait category.

IMHO this movie is just a vehicle to make ones name more known. The Rapescenes, the "actors", the violence and the Very lacking script confirms my theory.
We will propably see one movie from the director and that will bomb. And she´ll disappear.

Just watched this one tonight. I just didn't think it was a good movie at all. My wife and I watched it and couldn't wait for it to end. Unfortunately, we bought this one. Looks like I'll try and sell it.

This movie was just simply one of the worst piles o' crap I have seen this last year.
I went into it expecting something new and a bit out of the ordinary given that it was shot on DV and had received good reviews in underground newspapers.
However, after seeing it, I realized the reviewers were wrong, and may have given the film glowing reviews simply because it was so far from the mainstream.
Bad porno is bad porno, even when directed by a woman.
Bad action is still bad action, even when directed by a woman.
Humiliating, hard core rape scenes are still humiliating hard core rape scenes even when directed by a woman.
Reviews of the film I read previous to viewing it went on and on about how a woman had taken a traditionally male dominated genre (porno/violent/action film) and turned it on its head and raised it to a new level by giving it a more female perspective.
The only difference between I noted between it and traditional male created trash was no cum shot durning the sex/rape scenes.
Some new level huh?
It was just an awful, embarassing, waste of time of a film.
I can't wait for the 4 hour director's cur Special Edition with the legendary Biggs scene included in its entirety.

Thank god for some honest reviews of this (finally!). After reading the same glowing reviews that I'm sure a lot of you have, I've been considering buying this one to check it out. Based on the opinions here, I think I'm much better off saving my money.

Rape Me is how the posters and reviewers were instructed to translate it in paper and print advertizing. Even the websiter translates it that way. Perhaps it was to avoid having to use the word "fuck" in mainstream newspapers who chose to take advertising for the picture.

I guess they were trying for politeness as 'Baise Moi' definitely means 'Fuck Me' and 'Rape Me' would be more like 'Viole Moi'. Anyone who speaks french (or has a handy all-inclusive FTE dictionary) wouldn't confuse the two.

As a francophone, I concur that the translation isn't exact.
Baise = Fuck
Viole = Rape
It's just that "Baise" isn't as offensive a word in French as "Fuck" is in English. It usually means "make love" rather than "fuck", but in the context of the film in question, it definitely means "fuck".

I watched it last week on rental from Netflix (its on is way back).
Had to watch it myself cause its too graphic for the wife.
Way over the top. Real explotation. Worth a rental but not to own, cause if you want the sex, a porno dvd is better.

If you want to see a genuinely good film with explicit and real sex scenes, with name actors to boot, see Intimacy, the English language film from the director of Queen Margot. Baise-Moi was exploitative trash.

If it wasn't for the explicit stuff, this movie would be in video bargain bins if it even managed to gain distribution.
