    Hi all!

I've finally decided to take the plunge into projectors and ordered my Infocus SP4805 and screen.
I should receive it later this week. [IMG]
In the meantime, I'm taking suggestions on what scenes on DVD I should use for when I first fire it up.
Check out my collection, and make some recommendations.

I'm really looking forward to the projector.... just wish it would get here already [IMG]

    Thanks,
    Tim

(Admins: Hope this is where to post. If this should be in software please move it)

I have had my 4805 for about a month. I would run the Avia calibration DVD first. It changed my picture from a great one to an awesome picture!!
    Then how about I Robot

    My current demo DVDs:

    1.85:
    Starship Troopers
    Bad Santa
    The Village
    Chicago

    2.35:
    Lord of the Rings (any)
    The Fifth Element (Superbit)
    Spider-man 2

If I'm showing it to someone who hasn't seen a PJ before, I usually go with a 1.85 demo, just because the picture tends to be more impressive.

Bad Santa may strike some as an odd choice, but it's a little harder to find good visual 1.85 films, and Bad Santa has some pretty colorful scenes and good clarity and contrast in general. Most of the striking visual films tend to be 2.35. I've got the Alien (1) SE on order which I've heard is 1.85 so it may go on the list if that's the case.

By the way, I find it useful to have a good collection of beautiful older films to show off as well. Patton and Jaws are good examples of this, as well as Lawrence of Arabia, I'm sure, but I don't have that one.

Pat, Alien is 2:35 but Aliens (2) is 1:85.

Add "Ray" to the list! The video is outstanding and it's a great movie too.

    Two words.

    Screen shots.

That is you need to post "screen shots" of your 4805 in action.

Just busy getting the screen installed onto the wall at the moment.
As soon as I have the projector working as it should, I'll be sure to get my 300D out and take some images to share. [IMG]

I'd second the Superbit "Starship Troopers". Best picture I've seen on my 4805, the space scenes in particular are spectacular. I've never watched the whole movie, though...seems inane. [IMG]
