How do you have the TV hooked to the receiver?

Test tone tells you your speakers are connected, that does not mean your sources are hooked up right... It often helps if you inlcude what gear we are talking about.

You need to have the audio hooked up as well. You need two RCA audio cables to go from audio left and right out on TV to your receiver. Look on back of receiver for something video 1 audio in left and right and use those inputs.

    Hope this helps

S-video is a video cable. It does not carry any audio.
