I'm having trouble getting 5.1 audio out of my system. I have an optical cable from the PS2 to my receiver. I went into the set up menu in the receiver and assigned VCR2/AUX for the PS2. But when I hit the AUX button on the remote I get nothing. The instructions in the PS2 and the receiver aren't helpful. Any ideas?

    I'm using

    PS2- 5CPH-50001/97011
    Sony TV- KV-36HS20
    Denon receiver- AVR3200

    Thanks in advance!

Check your PS2's settings. You must enable the optical output from it. Also keep in mind that the PS2 mainly uses 5.1 for certain video sequences - it cannot perform in-game Dolby Digital 5.1. There are some games that feature in-game DTS sound, however.

Jeremy- thanks for the suggestion. I had selected the optical "on" in the PS2 set up already.

when you hooked up your optical cord to back of the receiver.. did you make sure it was in the tv/sat one? I have two opitcal slots on the reciever.. you also have to turn the opical cord on with using the reciever..then use tv/sat button.
