I'm looking for good games to show off my new setup. I have demos for UT2K4, Tron 2.0 (I also ordered this for $20 from EBGames), and I'm downloading Kill.switch and Max Payne 2 demos at the moment. What other games/demos should I get or look into? I don't have enough free time for Adventure/MMORPGs, and I'm not into RTS.

BTW, here's the setup I've got:

    19" Flat screen monitor
    DVD/CD burner
    DVD-ROM
    P4 3.2 GHz
    Wireless keyboard/mouse (optical)
    2.1 Harman Kardon speakers
    Windows XP
    512 MB RAM
    ATI Radeon 9200

Far Cry is worth a download. The 9200 you have may choke a little when playing it but its worth giving a whirl[IMG] .

There is a new Splinter Cell Pandora's Tommorrow demo coming tommorrow you can try. Some other ones to try out:

    Sacred
    Beyond Divinity
    Temple of Elemental Evil
    Black Hawk Down
    Vietcong

Also Morgan its a great time to catch up on old bargain CRPG's that you may not have tried (don't know if you have or not). Stuff like Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment etc.. etc..

    Also..Nice comp!

I haven't tried it, but from what I've seen, Far Cry would be an excellent demo to try out. Amazing looking graphics, unfortunately my system probably wouldn't even run it (since I only have a 32 meg GF2 video card).

Is there a reason you only went for a Radeon 9200? It seems like you could have dropped down to a P4 3.0 ghz chip, and put the difference towards a 9700 or 9800 Pro (around $200-$220 from Newegg), or at the very least, a 9600 Pro (around $150). Looks like a really excellent machine otherwise [IMG]

I didn't build it, it came like that.

Thanks for the recommendations. I got Far Cry, Sacred, Max Payne 2, Uru, and I'm getting Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow right now.

    Morgan,

If you get a chance to save some money (about 150 or so) you can upgrade that 9200 up to a 9600XT or even a 9700pro for about 200 beans. Right now that 9200 is going to be the big bottleneck on your system. Going with even the 9600XT will give you a seriously out of this world gaming rig.

Honestly, I have the funds to go out and buy a whole 'nother gaming rig if I really wanted to, but I'm trying to replace what I just spent, so it will probably be a while.

Even so, I'm able to play most games and have them look great.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Too bad that you didn't get atleast a Radeon 9600, the full screen effects in this game are amazing.

So you're not interested in an HDTV demo on your PC? Pity. [IMG]

I think I have all the stuff to watch HD videos already, but I don't know any good demos to get or where to get them. Got any recommendations?

If you are into shooters, I would highly recommend Call of Duty. You could also pick up the Medal of Honor games. I loved "Allied Assault", thought "Breakthrough" was ok, and didn't get to play "Spearhead." You can get a combo pack of "Allied Assault" and "Spearhead" for $19.99, or get all three for $35.00.

I take it you already tried all the demo HDTV material from the microsoft site I linked to earlier?

The flight sample and the liquid sample (surfers) is pretty neat.

I recall one site that offered a minute of HDTV content, but, um, it's not suitable for under 18 peeps. :b

I would have mentioned the nvidia technology demos, but dang you only have an ATI 9200...

Hold off on buying a few games and go get a 9700, or faster video board.

It is money better spent IMHO. It will open the door to some games that would be otherwise unplayable with a decent framerate.

Other than that, looks good [IMG]

Morgan, I completely agree with Sean*O. I have the 9700 Pro in my rig and I would not go any lower. The demands of the newest games are really pushing the G card envelope. It's frustrating for the consumer in a way... in order to see games looking their best, you have to constantly upgrade, and the cards ain't cheap! I just think you will get a lot more out of your machine if you make the graphics card upgrade a priority. Have fun, Dave

The new T2 DVD has a high dev windows media version of the film you can watch [IMG]

Apparently the full version of Far Cry is due out next week. I've read one review for it that was a complete rave. It will be awhile before I'm able to play it though.

The need for speed demo is pretty nice looking too.

Hate to beat a point into the ground Morgan, but I have to agree -- as good as you think the 9200 looks now, you put a 9700 Pro or better in there and I guarantee your jaw will drop. You've got a lot of the best demos, now run them with max details at 1280x1024 with butter-smooth framerates.
