Congrats. I just watched "Mean Streets" on my CLD-79 yesterday. Older movie, not the greatest quality, but hey, it looked pretty decent. Good movie too. I really have no problems with the video quality of this player. Its nice.
    Have fun [IMG]

Congrats on the Excellent Laserdisc player.
Funny to come across this as at this moment my two Daughters are watching the Lion King LD in DD.
    Awesome Bass in this one.

I previously had a CLD-D502 LD player, and while it was adequete, it didn't look too hot on my Mitsu 55" Platinum Plus 16:9 set. I had about 20 LD titles, and when EAVLaser started blowing out discs at $2 per title, I quickly doubled that. Then Ken Cranes had titles from $2-5, and I quickly gained 27 more.
Pretty soon, I found that I had right around 70 titles, and decided that an upgrade would be worth it. After hunting around on E-Bay for awhile, I found and won the aforementioned CLD-79 with about 23 more titles.
After trying out the CLD-79, I've found that the 502 didn't even hold a candle to it. The Elite is darn close to DVD quality in the video department, and the same if not better in the audio department. My Laserdisc titles look absolutely fantastic on it, even with the expand function engaged on my TV. It definately looks better than non-animorphic DVD, though not quite as good as animorphic DVD.
All in all, I'd say that I'm a happy camper!! [IMG] I would definately recommend this player to anyone who wants to upgrade theirs.
    Later,
    Matt
