The project took alot longer than i planned,(always the case), but i am pleased with the results. I made the doors out of Fir,frosted the glass myself and made the rest of the cabinet out of 3/4" MDF.It is a total of 10" deep with 4" sunk into the wall, and it will hold 500+ DVD's. Now i need to start collecting, as i only have 50 so far.!!!
I have been lurking around, looking at what everyone else has been making and i got the "build" bug. I thought i would share my little storage unit!!!

That looks great! You will have plenty of room for your expanding collection. Just curious, but how did you frost the glass?

    does look nice,but.

the block of wood right down the middle seems too wide.
thats alot of space that could have been used for more dvd's.

Thanks, yes the middle pillar is alittle wide but there is an outlet there for the kitchen that i couldn't move(opposite wall) so i had to improvise....
I frosted the glass with "frost Glass" from Home Depot. One can did 4 coats on each piece of glass. Very easy to use, cost only $6.00 a can and is very durable. It can only be removed with a razor blade.

Did you make the outer mouldings? I love the design and hope you don't mind me doing the same thing.

Yes i made the entire cabinet. I fluted the mouldings with a router bit. It was rather easy, i just used a few test pieces to get the feeling for it. Thanks for all your comments. I think i am going to try to build a sub next. I have seen some very nice ones on here for sure.
