i just got a 1055. It rocks, blows away my Denon 3802.
The remote is OK if your just gonna use it for the 1055. I have a pronto and nothing beats it for a universal remote. Your opioniins may differ though. Rotels webpage has a ccf file for the pronto if you decide to go that way.
What are your opinions of the 1055?
What version of the firmware so you have? To check just press and hold mute until it appears in the display. Version 1.46 is the current version.
I haven't actually gotten it yet, I pick it up during the week. the guy didn't have it in stock at the store where I purchased it. I paid 1170, he originally said 1080, he thought the list was 1200, i liked him and the store, so i didnt haggle...its funny, i bought just about the cheapest thing they had there. they had all thes BAT's, levinsons', lexicon, naims, etc. But the guy took a long time with me and treated me very well, so I felt comfortable.
It is going to replace my Carver C1000A which is actually a very good piece.
I got it because I want to slowly upgrade to separates and since its pre section is supposed to be nearly as good as the 1066 (which is supposed to be very good for the money), i figure within the next 3-4 months I can get a nice 5 channel amp (possibly the rotel 1095) and then add a pre/pro in 6-9 months...then I can move this to my smaller room and use it there.
I can't wait to test it out actually.
I will verify the firmware when I get it.
I am just hoping the remote is convenient (at the least it should control my rotel cd player) cause I just hate programming things. Kind of the reaason I never got a pronto or other really good remote.
Im glad you like the Rotel. I have heard so many good things about it. I only tested it a bit, mostly 2 channel sound. My stupid dish tv doesn't have a digital out for the channels that get DD, so I will be relying on this unit's dpl2 for some things (sports/movies). My carver doesn't have dpl2 so that will be a nice upgrade. I am just worried I will miss the power of my Carver (200x5 into 8 continuous)
The remote isn't that great but like Earle I use the pronto so I haven't spent much time with it. One thing that I can say is that the inputs aren't the button on top but they're hidden under the flip up panel on the bottom.
I have to differ. I am not a big fan of touch screen remotes and I find the remote with the 1055 very good. There is always room for improvement but it is better than almost all other manufactureres supplied remotes in this price range.
