In Jurassic Park, they show a close-up of Nedry's monitor, and there's a black-and-white photo of a man (from the 50s?) with a pipe. He looks like a scientist or possibly a writer? The photo is shown purposely, but I never found out who it is. Anyone know?

    No, it's not Darwin.

I've not got a ref. to hand here, but its probably either Crick or Watson, discoverers of DNA.

Either that or its one of the computer legends, like Turing or Babbage.

I just looked for pictures of these guys, and it's definitely not Watson, Crick or Babbage. It could possibly be Turing.

Did you notice the A-Bomb doodles on the post-it notes around the photo?

It's Robert Oppenheimer, the head scientist on the Manhattan Project, a top secret project that invented the atomic bomb during WWII.

I think the relevance to JP was that the developers of the Bomb, like the JP scientists, didn't know the full ramifications of their efforts.

Thanks, Steve! This has been driving me nuts for a long time. I didn't notice the doodles.

    Dennis,

I had to go back and take another look at the dvd, freeze frame and zoom it, after reading your original post. I'd always assumed it was Mr. Rogers before!!
