at $14.95 I'd guess that Journey will be bare bones.

I se DTESS at $12.99 so I imagine it will also be bare-bones (no specs given) The Director supposedly recorded a commentary for this disc a couple of years ago though.

"Journey to the Center of the Earth" may end up being 'bare bones', but I'll bet it's in 16x9, plus have a DD 4.0 track from the original discrete mag tracks like the remastered LD had. Yummy!! [IMG]

As long as JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH is 16:9 enhanced and has the original 4.0 soundtrack, I'll be happy. However, I'd still like an isolated version of that wonderful Bernard Herrmann score.

    Greg, too true.
Even at bargain prices we can be pretty sure that the discs will be great presentations of the films thanks to Fox's consistant quality [IMG]

It appears TDTESS won't be completely "bones"....
Jack Briggs reported at an earlier date....
"The DVD features a transfer made from a completely restored print. And I know when it is to be released. What I don't recall is if I am allowed to say anything beyond that. It will be a glorious disc, though." -- Jack B.; 09/26/02.

It is about time that we got "Journey to the Center of the Earth"! If "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is lacking the Robert Wise commentary, it would be tragic!! Hopefully we will be getting a lot of bang for our buck.

Now that JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH is on its way at last, I have to come up with a new Holy Grail DVD title that I'd want above all others. Thank you, Peter Staddon - you said you'd look into this title during a long-ago HTF live chat and you certainly came through!

I don't mean to ignore THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, but that had been rumored to be on its way for a very long time. The JOURNEY announcement just came out of the blue. What a blast to be getting them both on the same day!

Geez, I hope not. I really wanted a DVD version to rival the Robt. Wise-signed LD set. Surely with all this great stuff ready to go it won't be movie-only?

I think Fox is going to make classic movie fans very happy this coming new year with not only quality dvds, but at very affordable prices. Let's remembered that, when we want to criticize them over a relatively minor detail like the marketing of the "Sunrise" dvd. I wished all studios provided their customers with such a classic film dvd output.

Oooh Journey to the Center of the Earth on dvd finally great news, I love that film, and I already know that Klaatu is on his way in a special edition and I can't wait for that either.
Yes a Special Edition of my favorite 50's SF film Forbidden Planet would be very nice indeed, 2003 is shaping up to be another great dvd year, woohoo![IMG]
Robby the Robot: Sorry miss, I was giving myself an oil-job.

Yes thanks to Fox for bringing us these classics at affortable prices.
Simply must own these. Having said that, my list of DVDs to buy for 2003 are already exceeding the ones I bought this year and 2002 is not even finished.
    Cheers

I love it. Fox is going to short-circuit the DVD wait period on a non five or six parsec level.

Woah, does this mean One Million Years BC is coming out on DVD?
I'm excited about JttCotE, too. Yes, an isolated score would be great.
