Picked one up to try out on Monday. I have previously tried the Pioneer 578 and the Marantz 7500 for comparison's sake.

I bought this player mainly for Hi-Res audio, so I won't be saying much if anything about the video side.

Seems this one could be a keeper.

    PROS :

    - Sound is very comparable to the Marantz (even though the Yamaha is half the price)and better than the Pioneer IMO. Simply pleasant to listen to. I have a fairly wide range in my taste for music and everything so far sounds great. From B.B. King & Eric Clapton to Fleetwood Mac, to Linkin Park, to George Strait. Incredible clarity and range.
    - Unit actually looks good and has some heft to it.
    - Set-up is basic and fairly simple, OSD is decent.
    - Remote is basic, but ergonomic and easy to use.
    - Price, $350CAD plus taxes, very reasonable.

    CONS :

    - It does take a while to load and or change discs but not a deal breaker for me.
    - Fixed crossover of 120hz ( will they never learn ? )
    - No HDMI, DVI, or firewire

Again all this is my opinion, but for $350 Canadian, hard to go wrong.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Hey Steve,

Glad to hear you're liking it so far. As am I. Though, I kinda stalled with my evaluation as the week after I bought it I went away to Vegas for a while, and then my TV broke down (they're coming today to fix it) so it's been a bit of a waiting game. But what I've heard so far has been great.

That's the same price I paid. Did you get it at A&B sound by chance?

Why yes I did. Really enjoying the sound too. Good luck with you TV, it's brutal when it goes on the fritz.

    Cheers,

    Steve
