Slightly OT but does anyone know if the story about him receiting Hamlet as "To be or not to- Who wrote this crap anyway?" for a charity thing true? I was told someone pledged to have him read Hamlet but that's as far as he got. I've always assumed it's an urban myth - anyone know?

"The Quiet Man" is my all-time favorite movie from John Wayne. It also boasts one seriously cool (and funny) fight sequence. Definitely The Duke at his best. You also can't go wrong with "The Searchers" or "True Grit" (for which he won his Best Actor Oscar).

My favorite John Wayne movie of all time - Big Jake. My Mom is a huge John Wayne fan and I grew up watching his movies.
Too bad its not on DVD yet.
All the above listed movies are great too.

Do you think there would be a rerelease of the Green Berets in a non-flipper format? I hate to get up in the middle of the movie to flip the disk over and with new technology as it is, there should be some way to have this on a 1 sided DVD.
Any thoughts on this?
