well i have these lost eps now and umm.
i watched what was aired on spike tv a few years ago and remember being
mostly, appalled by what i saw, and now i remember why.
these cartoons are not the same ren and stimpy that was on nick.
there is almost no humor or imagination in these at all.
naked beach frenzy is not funny.
and stimpy's pregnant, who couldnt see the "twist" in that one coming.
ren seeks help is just "how many different ways can ren torture a frog.
being restrained by the "network" as referred to by john k. forced them to be more creative.
there's nothing creative here.
i dont think a 13 year old boy would find this stuff funny.
even the intros are bad as it is joh k. rambling on for far too long about each ep.
the john k. intro on fire dogs 2 was actually good as he gets into the details of how mighty moouse got produced into a tv show by bakshi then he talks about how he gets bakshi to be in fire dogs 2.
there is only 6 eps here. this is stretched out to over 90 minutes on disc one with the john k. intros and about 90 minutes on disc 2.
fire dogs is incomplete as it is missing the live action segment with ralph bakshi that was there when first aired on spike.
i couldnt find it in the extra features.
john k. says this is the stuff fans wanted.
he recieved mail back in 1991 from fans asking for more gross and disgusting versions of ren and stimpy.
so he says in response to that he created these cartonns and specically "onward and upward".
possibly the most disgusting one of all.
this one has them living in a bums mouth then movin' on up to a spittoon.
maybe in 1991 some kids wanted to see that but sheesh that was 15 years ago.
on the box.....
"Well, now you've grown up - and thanks to Spike tv,
John k. finally got to make the cartoons that you wanted all along!"
looks great though.
colors were very bright and nice on my 30 in tv.
This doesn't feature tha Bakshi funhouse live stuff? That's just wrong! I thought they were supposed to be uncut?
Why can't we get a decent Ren And Stimpy DVD??
correct, no live bakshi stuff.
although they talk about him in nearly every interview and intro,
he is nowhere on either dvd.
