Quick heads up; Network has released John Huston's The Dead in the UK - see here. No extras but it's cheap enough.

I got this the other day. The transfer is not particularly exciting (I suspect it's been knocking around for a good few years) but at least it's anamorphic.

It's a must-have being John Huston of course.

The Australian DVD has been on the go for awhile now; it is also anamorphic, unlike the full-frame Spanish DVD which was the first appearance of the film on DVD.

Great film, of course. A beautiful swan song from a fascinating filmmaker. But there are still a few gems from Huston to reach DVD:

    Sinful Davey (1969, Sony)

    The Kremlin Letter (1970, Fox)
A Walk with Love and Death (1969, Fox) - Anamorphic German DVD available HERE

    The MacKintosh Man (1973, Warner)
Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967, Warner)

    Under the Volcano (1984, Universal???)
    Wise Blood (1979, Universal???)
The List of Adrian Messenger (1963, Universal)
    Freud (1962, Universal)

The African Queen is the most wanted title, but who knows when we'll see it from Paramount.

The Night of the Iguana is out on May 2.
