Does anyone have any idea when we will see this released on DVD as I love this film?

Also, is there any news on special editions of Escape From New York, They Live or Prince Of Darkness?

Rumor has it that we will see this sometime in late 2002. I'm guessing that a release around Halloween is a distinct possibility.

Just did a search for The Fog to see if there had been any new news.
Anyone know the scoop on this title? Several sites have had the cover art up for a while, so I'm wondering if this one's delayed or postponed...

Wasn't it already postponed once, when it first was announced as a barebones DVD, so they could do a special edition? Not that I consider myself an expert in any way, but I can't recall ever hearing a release date after they said they would do a SE...

The last that I had heard, both the regular edition of the Fog and the special edition of Escape From New York were due from MGM by the end of 2002. No official information about dates or content has been released yet. I believe that the artwork that has circulated has either been taken directly from the last VHS release (with Curtis' and Barbeau's heads on the cover) or is something similar. Hopefully MGM will use the original 1-sheet art for BOTH of these films. I wasn't that thrilled with the new art for the original Escape DVD either.

According to www.davisdvd.com , it's set for an 8/27 release. Carpenter/Debra Hill commentary and lotsa other goodies. Check out the site for the full report.
They got the news early; they deserve the hits. [IMG]

I hope, but don't expect, that they would also port over the isolated score track from the laserdisc the way they seem to be doing with all of the other supplements for the SE DVD.

Im pretty sure The Fog is a year late.

MGM was had that on the schedule last summer and nothing has been heard yet. Hopefully its delayed for special treatment.

    Got this from DVD Drive-In
MGM will also release these "Special Edition" horror titles on August 27:
THE FOG: SPECIAL EDITION (16x9, 2.35:1) $19.98. Includes new documentary, original 1980 featurette, commentary by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, outtakes, trailers and TV spots.
There is a whole lot of other interesting stuff coming from MGM on the same date.
