Sad news indeed.
The Clash - a lot of people don't realize just how important this band really was.
He will be missed.
Yes Sad news. I loved the Clash.
RIP - Joe Strummer.
The Clash were an incredible band and Joe Strummer was a huge part of that. He will be missed. Music has lost another legend. Unfortuneatly, since he isn't a rap star, news coverage will probably be very limited much like Joey Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone, and Stuart Adamson (Skids, Big Country). Matt
Not to be overlooked, he also did some great work for movie soundtracks, most recently Black Hawk Down, and one of my all-time favorite soundtracks, Walker.
This is sad news.
The official site above is down at the moment, so here's a CNN link with what little details are available right now:
Another of rock's great ones... Rest in Peace Joe.
Tragic news. RIP Joe Long Live The Clash.
Wow. Like a ton of bricks.
Sort of met him when he played here with the The Mescaleros, I am too much of a fan to try and say something to him. But he was nice and he signed my poster. They had a booth for him to sit in, he ended up outside of it so he could be with people and not divided from them. Damn i am sad The Clash are still the only Band that matter
The man did more in his fifty years than most people could do over many lifetimes.
I'm sure he'll be up in Heaven bitching about something
Rest in peace...
Terrible terrible news.
We'll miss you Joe. "What are we gonna do now?!..."
Sorry to hear this bit of news. "London Calling" remains as one of the most important albums ever made and I still have my worn out vinyl copy. I realize how lucky I was to see them in concert in 1981.
I agree with Matt-- there was barely any mention of this on cable news and none on the nightly news. Jam Master Jay, on the other hand, was a top story (not to slam Jay, who was tremendous in his own right). This is a sad, sad, sad day (and I'm in Ohio for the holidays and didn't bring any of my Clash CDs with me). Sigh.
mtv2 did a pretty nice thing, although not very long, and i did see a short piece on headline news.
50 years old. That's way too soon...
