Forwarded from rec.arts.movies.tech:
I just spoke with a ghost.
Joe Caporiccio.
He is, much to my shock, fine. That is: He was hit by a hit and run
driver (who they have caught). He was in a coma. He had brain
surgery. And... he's making a full recovery. He is expected to be
released from the hospital in another week or so.
A genuine miracle, it would appear.

This is welcome news indeed! I know we all hope for the best for Joe. Not to mention justice for the perpetrator

Fantastic! I'm sure Joe's had a chance to watch a lot of DVDs while in the hospital, and should have plenty of material for his return

This is great news and I'm glad Joe is doing okay. I also hope the driver (if he/she was fully aware of the accident and chose not to assist Joe afterwards) is penalized accordingly. It really does sound like a miracle that Joe is okay (and I'm truly happy to hear it) but the outcome could have so easily been differerent.
Anyway, I'm glad Joe will be sitting back shortly and watching CITIZEN KANE, THE GODFATHER, the Criterion Hitchcocks and others just like the rest of us.

Wow, looks like there are amazingly happy endings in real life too, not just in movies. Great to hear that Joe is on the mend, and hopefully will be back here amongst us soon.

Thanks for the update - I'm glad to hear Joe is doing fine.... :)

He thought on homeland, the big timber, the air thin and chill all the year long. Tulip poplars so big through the trunk they put you in mind of locomotives set on end. He thought of getting home and building him a cabin on Cold Mountain so high that not a soul but the nighthawks passing across the clouds in autumn could hear his sad cry. Of living a life so quiet he would not need ears. And if Ada would go with him, there might be the hope, so far off in the distance he did not even really see it, that in time his despair might be honed off to a point so fine and thin that it would be nearly the same as vanishing.
-- Charles Frazier, Cold Mountain
