According to this JOA S2 is on the way! I am SO EXCITED! I was just thinking how lonely and pathetic my S1 box set looked all by itself. It was an amazing show and this is the least CBS can give us after canceling it. I hope they continue with the great package art and designs. I really liked the way they did the first box set. I also hope that season 2 is released in widescreen like season 1! Great show, great box set. Let's hope this has commentaries and maybe info from the creator on how she would have liked the show to end.

Great news! Hope they keep at least 1 copy of the theme on each disc like last time. It would be great if it was intact on all the episodes, but 1 per disc is better than nothing.

I bought the first season DVDs when they first came out but they've been sitting on my shelf unwatched because the show got cancelled about the time they came out and I just haven't gotten around to watching them. However, in the last few weeks, I've gone over the season which has just gotten me depressed since I really didn't think season two was ever going to be released.

I'm hesitant to get to excited about this rumor, but if it turns out to be true, it's going to be the greatest DVD news ever.

I would love to see some cast/crew participation. If not the actors, at least Barbara Hall who can shed some light on how the season progressed and how the show was ultimately cancelled. I also agree with John D about the music rights... if the second season set can at least stay consistent with the title theme issues, I'll be happy, as well with keeping as much of the original music as possible. (The only cue that, if missing, would really make me angry would be if they replaced Patti Griffin's "Kite Song" at the end of "No Future." That song and the scene it was featured in made me cry like a baby when I first saw the episode and I'd hate to see it cut.)

Anyway, fingers crossed, the set actual gets a release.

Awesome news! Now I can buy the Season 1 DVD set with confidence...I didn't want to own just the first half of the series...that would drive me nuts.

This is precisely why I haven't watched my Malcolm in the Middle: Season 1 DVDs in ages. :frowning:

This is great news. They never screened the second season here (I caught it by "certain" means), so it'll be cool that I can finally buy the DVD. I was starting to get worried, because it's been a while since it got cancelled, and we've had no word. Sure, it's just a rumour, but it's a lot more than what we've had.

Paramount has a placeholder entry for this in their online promotional site (for media only). While they could always change their mind (having not announced a street date), it's a pretty good bet we'll see this in the second half of the year.

Yep, that placeholder's been there about a week, give or take, but as Family Ties proved to me, a placeholder at the press site doesn't always mean a release comes out.

In the case of Joan S2, I got word elsewhere as well, which was pretty solid. At the same time I also got word about a separate Par title, which also has a placeholder right now and which I'll be posting news about tomorrow. I just haven't had the chance yet; I've been backlogged on a lot of stories! (I guess that's a good problem to have, eh? :D )

Don't forget, though, that nothing's etched in stone until you're holding the release in your hands. Okay?
