thanks Robert, someone told me that JL could be better for music and the SVS could be better for movies.

I don't subscribe to that way of thinking. I want a sub to accurately reproduce whatever signal is fed to it. To get that with my system, I have a Behringer Feedback Destroyer as a 12 band parametric EQ on my sub. But if I liked my music with a little more thump in the upper regions (like 60hz for that chest pounding feel) then I can dial in a different frequency response curve into the BFD. It has multiple memories of different settings. Do you want to get that deep into sub setup? Then the BFD will be great for you. Others want to set it up and forget it. I'm a tinkerer. I'll tweak here and there all of the time. Finally, either sub will work for you. If you are hard core action movie guy then get the SVS since it digs deeper. The JL will have better upper bass. It's all a tradeoff. That doesn't mean the SVS will sound bad either. Their transducer engineer is one of the best in the business.

Thank you, Robert. Yes,I need deep bass for my HT, so svs will be better for now. What kind of BFD you have? Do I have to have it?

JL makes some nice pieces. The f110 is rated to 27hz, BUT JL measures to within 1.5db, not 3db like most others. Sealed or not, the JL will play really low, really loud.

I don't have the latest model. There was a new one after mine. But don't buy it now. There is no need for you to get it unless you actually need it. Bass is all about moving air so based on that, have you looked at 15" subs? http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-15h.html http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/empire.html http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_41&products_id=746 (eD goes up to dual 18's so this isn't their largest) http://www.rythmikaudio.com/products1.html
