Anyone know what they are talking about? :

In other quite interesting news, grab those copies of Fox's Jingle All The Way while you can. Due to a recent lawsuit, Fox has issued this notice to retailers:

"Because of an adverse court ruling against Fox in a copyright infringement case regarding "Jingle All The Way ", we are stopping deliveries of "Jingle" DVDs and videotapes until the pending matter can be resolved. Fox is prosecuting an appeal.. In the meantime, however, all DVDs and videotapes of the title that you have available for sale should immediately be removed from distribution. We will inform you when we resume taking orders and shipping the title, but we do not anticipate making further deliveries this year."

Could it be because of that real phone sex number in it?

    Could that be the lawsuit?

I believe someone is suing claiming they wrote the movie and that Fox stole it.

Hm, I had been passing on this, expecting an anamorphic reissue (none has been announced, I just have too many discs to buy) but it sounds as if I may need to pick this one up....

Esten, the 1-800-SPANK-ME was from The Santa Clause and that brief part is not on the DVD. Not sure if that's what you're thinking of.

Never been a big Arnold fan, but I really love this movie and always considered it a guilty pleasure when they show it on television. So this year, on the Friday after Thanksgiving I did something I have never done before -- I dragged myself out of bed at 6 a.m. and got to my nearest BestBuy when they opened at 7 a.m. inorder to buy this title and the original Miracle on 34th Street for $14/each. Really glad now I did! [IMG]

I'm glad I decided to buy this DVD a few months ago - I thought it was a really funny movie! (tastes do vary, however...)

I have this on laserdisc and since the DVD isn't anamorphic that will suit me fine. Great transfer and nice 5.1 sound. Not a great film but it is fun.

This was one of the first discs my parents got when we all started getting into DVDs. It's one of Arnold's "What was he thinking?" movies, but it's kinda funny in a weird way. I never thought it would become a collector's item, though. [IMG]

Yes, it's recalled. However, some retailers still have it listed, while others don't.

I succumbed to the lure of the forbidden and got a copy at Sam's, so if you want one you might try there. They treat DVD's more as a commodity, so I doubt they are going through them all to pull those few out.

I am sure it's some minor legal issue. I wouldn't go about hoarding this so-so movie. It'll be re-released eventually. Waiting for some jerk to sell it on eeebayy for $100

    Chris-

Ohh, it's not minor. In fact the allegations against Fox are quite serious, at least for screenwriters (and us wannabes). Basically a writer claims that he submitted a script for Jingle All the Way to Fox, which Fox rejected. Later the movie comes out and the writer noticed that the credited writer of the film was one of the script readers from the Fox story department. Assuming the original writer submitted his script through the proper channels (ie an agent, lawyer or manager as opposed to sending it unsolicited) which seems likely as all studios have rules prohibiting their readers from looking at unsolicited materials, then he has a _very_ strong case against Fox. Sounds like a judge agreed with him in the first round.
