JERRY SEINFELD GIVES DREAMWORKS A BEE

LOS ANGELES - Jerry Seinfeld will write, produce and star in an animated comedy for DreamWorks Pictures. The announcement was made today by DreamWorks principal Jeffrey Katzenberg. The computer-animated feature, entitled "Bee Movie", will be set in an anthropomorphized world of bees.

In making the announcement, Katzenberg said, "Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most brilliant and unique comic minds of our time. It has been a dream of mine for over 10 years to be in business with him, and during that time, I have been willing to put myself in any number of potentially humiliating situations in order to demonstrate my unflagging appreciation of his talent. We were delighted when he came to us with his wonderfully funny concept for an animated feature and even more thrilled to be the studio that will bring Jerry Seinfeld's comedy to the big screen."

Seinfeld¹s manager, Howard West, of Shapiro-West, commented, "Studios have been courting Jerry for years following the success of 'Seinfeld', but it wasn¹t until he met with the creative minds at DreamWorks that Jerry decided to do a film. We are very excited to be working with the proven DreamWorks team on this new endeavor."

Jerry Seinfeld stated, "I have always been fascinated by bee society, the world¹s most harmoniously run organization, and now I finally am going to be in it. The enthusiasm of Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg for this idea is the main reason I decided to do it."

sounds great to me. Anything that would bring Seinfeld back creating comedy, whether on TV or Movies, is a good thing in my book. "Whaaaats the DEAL with honey..." Just tell me the queen bee WONT be voiced by Madonna. UGH, i could see her wanting to do it, with her children, and book carear, and all.

Holy crud, I can't wait. This is going to be awesome. Who cares of any resemblence to Antz, with Seinfeld's humor this movie is going to OWN Antz.

This is destined to be good.

"So what's the deal with bees?"

Seinfeld's previous movie outing (if you want to call it a movie at all) Comedian was less than spectacular but this sounds incredibly promising.

i just popped into this one to read about the upcoming Bee Movie and then after i saw scott had a post i wondered when did he start posting here again.

    then i saw the date.

this thread was started 3 years ago.

when does the movie come out?

    next year, i guess?

i saw the teaser on over the hedge.
    looked good to me.
hard to judge from a teaser though.

Saw the new trailer tonight before Shrek the Third. At least it makes sense -- the teaser was plain horrible.

Rather than Antz with bees, this looks like Shark Tale with Jerry Seinfeld: a mediocre movie substituting "brand-name" for proper voice talent. Hopefully it will be a fun movie, but the trailer showing bee bodies and people heads kinda gave me the willies. Just didn't look right. And hearing "Seinfeld" schtick about bees seemed about 10 years out of date.
