Are they the same kind of game and are they part of the Dark Forces series?

I just played the Demo of Academy and it was fun.

I was also wondering if one was better than the other.

    Thanks
    Matt

From what I've seen of Outcast (played the demo on OXM's game disc) it's the same style of play as JKII. But you have force powers and the lightsaber immediately. I was not able to get into JKII at all. Thought is was all very clunky. I played the Outcast demo and my first thought was "this is horrible." It seems to share the same {cough} graphics as the JKII so I presume it uses the same engine. Hopefully the framerate is better.

I think you mean Jedi Academy Jay. JKII *IS* Outcast. Jedi Academy is for all intents and purposed JKIII and it does indeed use the same engine (The Quake III engine).

I like Academy for the XBOX more than Outcast. And Academy has online play as well.

Academy was a little too easy, IMO. It wasn't as fully realized as Outcast.

I prefer Academy. It's more or less the same thing as Outcast except that you use the lightsaber all the way through the game, and using the lightsaber is what I like best about these games.
