Any fans of Jean Paul Belmundo?

He was my favorite actor growing up, and IMO the best french actor ever. My favorite movie of his is "Le professionel". I ordered the R1 DVD a couple of months ago. 20+ years after it was made, this movie is IMO still slicker and smarter than most hollywood productions of the same kind since, especially the bold and powerful ending. The score by Moriconne is a classic.

The transfer is subpar if you care about that sort of stuff (I don't).

I was wondering if I was the only Belmundo fan on this forum.

Belmondo is excellent in Godard's Breathless and Pierrot Le Fou. Also liked him quite a bit in Truffaut's Mississippi Mermaid. Haven't seen Le Proffesionel, I'll have to check it out.

My favorite French actor is Jean-Pierre Leaud.

Let's not forget his multi-layered, multi-character performance in Claude Lelouch's 1995 gem Les Miserables. This, along with Godard's Breathless are my favorite works of his.

I had forgotten about this thread over the weekend.
Thank you gentlemen, I will check out your recomendations. I am mostly familiar with his earlier work. Actually, "familiar" would be streching it as it's been at least 10 years since I saw anything with him.

I refuse to to watch les Miserables in any form or shape
before I read the book [IMG]
