JBL Synthesis Announces Latest SSW-4 In-Wall Subwoofer
JBL Synthesis, subsidiary of HARMAN, has announced the introduction of the SSW-4 in-wall subwoofer. The SSW-4 is designed to complement the JBL Synthesis line of in-wall loudspeakers and, according to HARMAN, 'provides the highest levels of sonic performance for custom home theater applications.'
The sub is driven by dual eight-inch (200mm) front-firing drivers with sealed acoustic tuning. The enclosure is an integrated MDF black-box type with an ABS front baffle to provide a flange, and integrated magnets enable a non-bezel magnetically attached grille. The integrated black-box design supports easy retrofit installations, and a custom installer-focused feature set. According to Harman, the system is 'optimized for the highest level of performance and reliability.'
The SSW-4 includes heavy-duty, gold-plated push terminals for cable connections, and the speaker's mounting system allows for acoustic isolation from a wall framing. Its compact footprint provides easy installations without the need for installing a large enclosure behind a drywall.
"The SSW-4 is optimized for deep, powerful bass response and complements our full range of JBL Synthesis in-wall loudspeakers," said Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN. "It is an excellent solution for the custom installer who is seeking a high-performance, in-wall subwoofer that easily retrofits into a standard 2x4 stud frame construction project."
According to HARMAN, the subwoofer can discreetly integrate into any environment and décor, and can also be installed in a traditional application behind acoustic fabrics or woven and perforated projection screens, without having to install the grilles. The JBL Synthesis SSW-4 will be available this Spring for an MSRP of $1000.
