I have a great pair of JBL Studio Monitors that I would like to use as part of a home theatre system I am setting up. A digital audio input is the only way to connect them to a receiver. Is using these monitors a good idea/will it work? Does anyone know of a receiver that would work well and has a digital audio output? Also, can I use a blueray player and transmit highdef audio through the digital audio output on the receiver? Thanks

Are you certain it is a digital input, and that is the only option? That sounds odd to me, unless they aren't really studio monitors. If that is actually the case, I can't think of any practical way of doing it. Yes, it can be done in a roundabout way, but probably isn't worth it.

If it is an analog input, you can use any HT receiver which has pre-outs and probably some kind of adapter cable to get from RCA to whatever the speakers have (most likely 1/4"). Or, you can use an HT preamp. You just need switching, surround processing and volume control.
