I am looking at two different combos and I need your opinion. I will be using these for about 80%HT and 20% music. They will be driven by a Kenwood VR 507 reciever and I will be using the 100 Watt Kenwood sub that came with it. The room is about 18'x12'.

Option 1

2 pair JBL s26 bookshelf for main and surround

JBL S center II for center

Option 2

N 38 for mains

N 38 II for center

N 26II for surrounds

The price comes out to about the same give or take 10-15 dollars.

I am looking at replacing sony speakers all the way around. The mains are sony towers right now. Will I really see much of an improvemnet or should I just save my money.

Thanks fopr the help

Option 1 performance would justify the cost vs. Option 2 and replacing the Sony speakers all around.
The JBL S26 (x4) & S-Center performance improvement can be described accuracy, soundstage & imaging!! You can read my JBL S26 Review here, including links to a couple of interesting INFO.
Back in FEB., my JBL S26 (x4) & S-Center (original series) cost $554.86 including 3-Day FedEX.

I would like to say that the s-center II is a very good center channel. A friend of mine bought one and after I heard compared to what I had I bought one the next week. I bought mine for cheap at etronics.com it was the cheapest price I could find and it only took about a week to get. They also have other JBL speaker for cheap.

Phil,

your info is very interesting. Can you get the S26II in white?

How diff is it to mount the S26II to the wall. the front right speaker needs to be mounted on a side wall but facing toward the listening area cause of an opening out of the room in the front right. would this be possble?

the S36looks to be amenable to wall mounting, does this come in white?

my room is 22 wide by 18 deep by 20 vaulted. I'm thinking studio series cause they sounded a lot better then the northridge series. How about a S center and 6 S's surrounding. Add 2 PB 12's(one front left and one back right). all hooked to a denon 3802. This might be great if they come in white otherwise, I may have to go to another manufacturer.

thanks in advance

Brian

Just curious. How would you use the N38 as a center? would you lay it on it's side on the ground (seems kinda big) or is your TV on a stand high enough where you could have it sitting on the ground in front of it?

I have option #1 in my room. 4 S-26's and the S Center 2 will be a great setup, especially for the price. You'll be hard pressed to find a better setup in that price range.
