Janet Leigh has died according to CNN.
The lady was 77 and had a good long life, but this just comes as a shock to me.
When I think of her vivacious personality, it's just too soon to see the actress in such films as Psycho, Bye Bye Birdie and Touch of Evil....gone.

Rest in Peace, Ms Leigh.
She was an excellent actress, and will be remembered for a long time. In addition to her excellent performances in Psycho and Touch of Evil, I recently enjoyed watching her in The Manchurian Candidate. Sad news.

My thoughts are with her family.

RIP, a good actress and a great beauty.

I'll bet that we're going to see a new round of mis-characterizations of how long her character survives in Psycho. The shower scene happens about 48/49 minutes in (I'm almost sure of this, I don't own the DVD but checked this fact some years ago on laserdisc), with a total runtime of 109 minutes, so it's a little short of halfway through the movie. But this frequently gets exaggerated to happen earlier--"the star dies in the first third of the movie!... in the first 20 minutes!... in the first reel!!... before the opening credits are done!!!" I thumbed through a recently published Hitchcock biography that said, as a caption to a photograph (so maybe it wasn't due to the author), that it happens in the first 30 minutes.

Damn, another great is gone. My condolences to the family and especially Jamie who as I remember was exceptionally close to her mother.

I heard this on my radio this morning coming to work! So sad. But what a long, full life and a great contribution to acting. RIP!

Sad news indeed!

I'll treasure my memory of meeting her and Brian De Palma together 6 years ago.

Really? I think she looks even better in that picture that Peter Klein posted than she did in any of her movies that I've seen. And that's saying a lot, as any of us who've seen any of her movies can attest to!

I was actually thinking of Bye Bye Birdie, as it's the first of her films I ever saw, so I first saw her as a brunette.

This is pretty sad news. I had no idea she was ill.
