I picked up the T2:Extreme dvd, because I wanted to hear what Cameron had to say about T2. He is one of my favorite filmmakers.. I enjoyed it very much..Hee talked about many things on the commentary from casting to productions to etc.. William Wisher also brought up some eary ideas, that never made it into the film. also made some funny remarks about stuff (don;t remember all the jokes).. I enjoyed it very much. Perhaps Cameron can go back and do one on the Aybss.. They did talked about the special effects in the abyss that help make T2 possible with the T-1000. Thatwas in the new documentary about the special effects. perhaps cameron could get michael biehn or someone to co-host the commentary..

does anyone else like this idea? I also heard that he is going to do a commentary on solaris with the director.

Well if he does one with Steven Soderbergh for Solaris lets hope he lets Soderbergh get a word in edgewise..

Poor old William Wisher hardly got to finish a sentence! [IMG]

It was an informative commentary though.. although I doubt there will be another version of The Abyss any time soon. But then I thought that about T2 a while back..

The commentary was the main reason I rented it. I thought Cameron had provided a commentary on the special edition laserdisc, but that is the same 26 person edit found on the ultimate dvd.
I'm glad it was a recent conversation(2/03) as he refers to his films since T2. It is nice to see that he isn't above commmentaries and that they are worth his time. He seemed to really enjoy reminiscing about its huge undertaking.
Hopefully he will contribute more to his other films(especially Terminator rerelease, Aliens and True Lies).

There's not another Terminator re-release is there?

    Say it aint so.

I think the MGM release is pretty darn good.

I'm sure that he will do a track on TITANIC when it
gets re-released. I enjoyed the T2 track. He had some
fun with it. My guess is he will also talk about
ALIENS when the Quadrilogy edition comes out.

I was always under the impression that the stunt where the helicopter flew under the overpass
was not a model shot or CGI.

I really enjoyed the commentary, although I too would have liked to hear William Wisher actually get to finish a few of his stories [IMG]. I thought the way they split them to the L and R speakers was great, definitely neat and it made it easy to follow who was talking.

For the first 30 min, I was yelling at the screen to Cameron to shut up and let William speak [IMG]

Towards the end I think he was better and I think this was more that he was not used to doing commentaries.

Everybody whines and gripes about how James Cameron never does commentaries and then when he does one everyone gets mad because he talks to much. I love it!

I thought Jim Cameron did a fantastic job on the T2 audio commentary. I found it interesting, informative, funny at times and very detailed. Conducting an audio commentary with two or more people is not an exact science. One person often tends to dominate and sometimes individuals step on each others words. Overall, I thought it was very well done and Cameron seemed to enjoy himself. This bodes well for future commentaries on potential special editions of True Lies, Titanic and Aliens[IMG]

This was one of the most entertaining commentaries I've heard, making me hope that Cameron will add commentaries to some of his other classics.

I agree with the point that many of Cameron's interruptions are attempts to make comments about what is appearing on the screen at that time. Interruptions like that are inevitable.

I'd love to hear a group commentary with say 4 or 5 people and each of them get a speaker for their voice. you would be right in the middle.

I was never under the impression that Cameron was interrupting Wisher in any way other than to keep up with the on-screen events.
Hell, this same type of interrupting happens on quite a few Dick Donner commentary tracks (such as The Omen & Superman) but I don't hear you guys complaining about Donner doing it to his screen writers.[IMG]

One of the best commentaries ever.

I get the feeling that had Kubrick done the Full Metal Jacket commentary that he was rumored to want to do, some here would still have complained about it.

    Can't please everybody, I guess.
