Just a quick aside, I’ve pretty much completed reading Roger Moore’s memoir, My Word is My Bond. Just a few pages left on the last chapter. It was very interesting to read and it’s got me reevaluating his Bond films. Plus as a person, you see a very different persona from Bond of course. His work for UNICEF is the more impressive side of his later work after Bond.

Awesome!

I hope we see another double feature release of some of his bond films.
I was bummed to miss the one they did last year following his death.

I’d forgotten that Sir Roger Moore had done audio commentaries for his films, so i just relistened to the one from Octopussy. I’ll have to listen to the all.

Great!

It’s been years and I should listen again.

Make sure you also read his 2nd memoir, A Bientot, which was sort of his farewell...

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of that book. I know of two others by Moore, one on Hollywood and one on Bond. I hadn’t planned to read all his books, but this book was pretty enjoyable. So I may get all of them and save A Bientot for last.

Cool concepts for the cover designs Osato.

Do you have reason to believe the UHD for the bond films are out in 2020? Would be great if it was sooner. :)

Speaking of Bond art and menus, I actually temped at MGM 12 years ago, first in their legal department, and then in their records/archives department. They were still based in Century City and working with my roommate and another film geek in records/archives... well, it was pretty much like The IT Crowd! We even got to screen Casino Royale in a theater before anyone else did... and when I say "we", I literally mean the three of us.

Anyway, at one point we had to rummage through a small file room on the executive level and I found a binder of proposals from various vendors for whatever the latest James Bond set was. I can safely say the final release was pretty middle of the road in comparison to the work I saw. Some of the proposed concepts were beautiful, others not so much. For every awesome art concept, there would be another one that was boring or just plain wrong.

(On another note, I found a letter asking Paul Verhoeven if he'd like to contribute to the Showgirls Special Edition DVD - this obviously did not pan out.)

Crazy. Yeah the artwork in the link I set was really cool. Especially the Russia ones and moonraker.

I thought the next Bond film hits in November 2019, then that means 3 months after the theatrical release if the home video is out in February.

Yes Osato, I’m looking at a new display that can display UHD 4K since as you know, my plasma is being repaired. And if it can’t be repaired, well, I’ll just have to upgrade. :)

Thanks for the clarification. The later reboot Bond films just don’t excite me as much so I haven’t been keeping up to date.

I saw a recent article speculating on the next actor to take over the role after Craig. Can’t say any of the options put forth were interesting. With the slight exception of Henry Cavill. At least he has the closet “look”. But the muscular Bond dosen’t gel with Fleming’s Bond.

It seems to me that with every actor who has portrayed James Bond, the more difficult it becomes to cast the replacement. Naturally, comparisons ensue. This one had that, and that one lacks this. No doubts, as I have done the same. The Bond character may now be the most difficult role an actor can attempt or fulfill; not unlike the near impossibilities of casting a Hamlet. It's always fun to see what's next.

As for the upcoming UHD's, that is entirely good news.:thumbs-up-smiley:

I wouldn't be surprised if Eon decides to pack it in after this one and sell off the rights. Michael Wilson is turning 77 soon and Barbara Broccoli seems increasingly interested in producing other material.
