Get a good director, speilberg, watchowski brothers. make a suberb film that evryone will want. Then the payoff at the end of the film, say the reveal of the murderer or some other major discovery, have it made so far out of a pan scan frame, that it'll piss people off when it ssssssstttttttrrrrreeeccccheeeessss across, or do a deliberatley terible pan scan that'll miss it altogether!

    God I'll make it!

No one has complained about The Matrix being widescreen-only.

This is an indication that most people don't care about P&S.

I was using The Matrix as an example because it sold VERY well and there's no sign of a P&S DVD.

The Warchoskis would not let WB release a pan and scan edition. I remember reading this somewhere. Same with Hannibal, MGM wanted to put out seprate OAR and full frame versions on dvd, but Ridley said only OAR on dvd.

Well done Wachowski's, if that's true (I might even forgive them for that shite first film 'Bound') but hard to believe they have more influence than Spielberg did with AI, unless your implying that Spielberg is simply a greedy bastard who prises $ over artistic integrity, hard to believe, ha ha.

I can't believe that anyone would ever suggest that Spielberg would sacrifice his artistic integrity for a quick buck, considering how disgustingly wealthy he already is. Spielberg is not a greedy bastard whose main concern is to find ways to add to that wealth and screw over the consumer. {cough}DIVX{cough, cough}[IMG]
P.S. I loved Bound, thought Matrix was only OK.

Bound is a classic movie,it was incredible!
How could someone call it "shite"? The Matrix was very overrated though & disapointing compared to Bound in my opinion.

Yeah Bound was right up there with three other 'shite' films IMO Momento, CTHD & worst of all Almost Famous (well done CC for making a worse film than Jerry Maguire proved me wrong, I did not think that was possible)

I have a theory that people felt obliged to say they liked this drivel because it was hip/popular.

I liked Bound because of the gripping story and the hot lesbian sex scene between Gina Gershon & Jennifer Tilly. Its popularity and/or other people's opinions of it didn't influence my view of the movie.

Well I don't think anyone here works in video stores. Trust me, many people would love a P&S version of The Matrix. It's the sad truth.

I am totally 100% gay man, and I love LOVE Bound. Siskel & Ebert both put it in there top 10 in
    the year it was released.
As for The Matrix only being
widescreen. Look at the consumer who would
buy that title: men, fairly early in the adoption
of DVD players, and between the ages of 18 and 40.
In other words, the people who like OAR.
I don't think many soccer moms or geriatrics
were eager to get on board with The Matrix.
    Both groups who, in general,
don't care for or like widescreen.
    Mark
