I am a new member .( my code name is above ) .......As an actor and friend of the late Vivien Leigh , I have some info.which I would like to share re.a conversation I had with her in 1966 . I had asked her about the portrait of Scarlett at which Gable hurled the glass of whisky ..what had happened to it etc. .. She told me quite a bit about this and other things as well ..This was during her
last play in which I appeared with her ( “Ivanov “ on Broadway ) ......
After she died I did locate where the painting ended up .....However I feel sure that now , in the intervening decades , it is alsewhere . Do you or anyone out there know where it might be ?

This the latest info I have on your question.

From the Atlanta History Center

“This life-sized portrait of Scarlett O'Hara, by artist Helen Carlton, hung on the wall in Rhett Butler's bedroom in the film Gone With the Wind. During the 1939 Atlanta premiere of the film, the portrait was moved to the Davison-Paxon department store as part of a window display. Afterwards, the painting hung in the cafeteria of the Margaret Mitchell Elementary School in northwest Atlanta. The painting, on loan to the AHC by the Atlanta Board of Education, is currently on display at the Margaret Mitchell House. “
