Last night when trimming the tree, I cued up the AIX Record's Surrounded by Christmas DVD-A.

Thats probably one of best sounding discs I own, no matter the format or genre. A sweet, sweet sounding disc, to be sure.

I think the new Walkmen song-Christmas Party-which you can download for free is very good. I really like its sort of demented take on classic Christmas songs.

Wham - This Christmas
Madonna - Santa Baby
My Time Life Christmas Collection (especially love the Dolly Parton Winter Wonderland medley)
Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You (an unlikely modern classic, before her descent into skankville)
Johnny Mathis Christmas album
John Lennon – Happy Christmas (War Is Over)
U2 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

I also like the Christmas album the cast from "Ally McBeal" put out several years ago. It has some stinkers, specifically Macy Gray, but I love Vonda Shepherd and Robert Downey, Jr. singing "River" is terrific.

We've got a local station playing X-mas music 24/7 since Thanksgiving! I love the music but am starting to reach my limit.

There is one funny song they play that has really grown on me the last couple of years. Don't know if it's new or old but it's funny. Not sure of the exact title but it's something like "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas...only a hippopotamus will do..." The person singing is (I think)a woman trying to sound like a little girl.

A nice catchy little tune.

Happy holidays!:)
