I'm sure by 5:30 most of you have already seen this, so I'll just chime in with some thoughts. I think although most people knew it was going multiconsole, it still isn't "positive" news for xbox, as it was really the only major blockbuster title out for it this holiday. The good news is microsoft got a million or so out of that in sales, so the exclusive time-frame deal did work out well. Maybe since Microsoft knew about this they wanted to spread out there high profile games like star wars or panzar dragoon...a good strategy if you ask me. This has been highly debated, so it's good to see a resolution. Recently picking up the REmake for GC, I think GC should get a fairly faithful port, minus the xbox-specific special effects. I think the PS2 may have trouble, but since this version may sell the most copies UBI soft may be putting a lot of manpower into it.

Good for those with only one console, but the Xbox version will still be the best because of something hardware specific: 5.1 surround.

I think UBIsoft is talented enough to pull off the lighting with the GC and PS2 version, with a little more effort needed with the PS2 version.

I hope they have enough sense to make The PS2 version 16x9.
Since they forgot it on the X.

Did they make heavy use of the pixel shaders in SC X?

I'm hoping the Cube version turns out well. Hopefully the graphics will be close and they'll encode the sounds in PL II. I know I'm getting an XBox at some point but it'd be nice to be able to hold off a little longer having Splitner Cell for the cube [IMG]

There are some more screenshots from the PC and PS2 versions here. Although it doesn't take much work to see where they had to cut corners with the PS2 version, it looks better than I expected. From what I understand the X-Box version used projected textures for the shadows -- nothing too fancy. The big question is whether the PS2 will be able to handle all the necessary calculations without the frame rate going through the floor......

While this puts me off from buying a X-Box once again. With the latest Mechwarrior game on X and SC, I was almost ready to take the plunge. But im not shelling out another $250 just to play mech. Also know knowing that even "exclusive" titles will not always be exclusive puts a damper for me at least not to buy a X-Box.

    Jay,
According to this page at Dolby's site it is an encoding scheme that must be decoded on a PL2 reciever to experience the full effect(of course it'll work on regular PL recievers and stereo recievers but won't sound as well).

The PC demo has been out for a while now, so you can pick it up if you have the neccessary hardware.

The PC version supports 3D Sound (from the Demo at least), so I don't think that feature will be exclusive to the XBox. Also, it'll allow me to play it at 1024x768 (the native resolution of my projector)...so, what am I missing from the XBox version?

Initially this was a title, that if it was held as a true exclusive, would've persuaded me much more to buy an XBox.

Anyhow, back onto the subject at hand, have any screens of the cube version surfaced yet? I'm really curious to see how it looks.
