I was searching for the previous thread, but I had forgotten that it was obliterated when this section was briefly removed.
Anyway, the Lasonic portable DVD player is back at HSN for $94.50 plus shipping:
    http://www.hsn.com/content/sf/dept/c...07148&o=search
The product page can be found here:
    http://www.lasonic.com.tw/090.html
Admin note: The above link is similar to the product being sold at HSN, but it's not the exact product and is deficient in many of the features listed at the Lasonic website. Read 5 posts down for a review of what you get from HSN.
Note that it includes no viewing screen of any sort. I didn't find any reviews in Audio/Video Sources, so I'm not sure if anyone has picked up on this deal or not. I am curious about "NTSC/PAL playback" being listed as one of the features...

There are few good coupons that can be used in www.hsn.com
To get $15.00 off (no minimum purchase required) for new customers, use the Code '309964'
To get $15.00 off on $20.00 purchase on one item only, use the Code '569033'
    Have a nice day.

Okay, I bit on this 'deal'. I doubt it'll perform all that great, but knowing that it's a Chinese player, I'm hoping the NTSC/PAL playback capability is true. But for $90 delivered, I decided to give it a shot. We shall see.

I could only get that second coupon code to work, the 1st coupon came back as being an expired code.

Funny y'all should ask about this product. I just received it yesterday.

    The Good:

It did play my one and only PAL DVD well enough. So that worked.

    The Bad:

    1. The stupid lid doesn't stay closed (very cheap feel to it). When it pops open by itself, the player shuts off.

    2. When the disc is spinning, it has a slight audible whirling sound - too lightweight.

    The Ugly:

    1. NO DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT AT ALL. The link to the DVB-090 isn't quite the model that HSN is selling. All you get are the left/right analog audio outputs.

    2. No Component video outputs either.

This must be some close-out predecessor of the DVB-090 with less features.

So, this thing is going back ASAP!

    My rating: Avoid!
