Just got a note from our suppliers here in Canada and it's most likely the same in the USA..

The Italian Job and Italian Job 2-Pack have been moved up a few weeks to: 07-Oct-03 (From the 21st)

    so now it's up against:
    Hollywood Homicide
    Lion King: Platinum
    The In-Laws
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Special Edition
    and Willard ...

DVD Profiler says that the 2003 version is supposed to be released on 12/17/2003. Which version of the movie are you talking about?

The DVD Profiler listing is bogus. Look at the UPC. But that fact that it's moving up is good, for me.

    Shaun,

I see you have changed the dates at the depot but if the 2 pack has moved, surely the original movie has too.

Sorry Johnny G, you are correct [IMG]

    They are all now: 2003-10-07

It looks like the Italian Job was moved up to allow Indiana Jones to slip into the 21st slot for Paramount...

DVDFile has the street date for the remake as October 19th. But that is a Sunday...

I can't speak for dvdfile, but we just got the notice today of the confirmed updated date.. so perhaps they haven't updated it yet.

I'm wondering if there's a chance this release date will now be pushed *back*. ComingSoon is reporting that Paramount is preparing to rerelease The Italian Job into nearly 2,000 theaters near the end of August to capitalize on the great word-of-mouth the film has received. If this happens, are we likely to see a delay of the DVD release?

    Confirmed.

The release I got from Paramount yesterday has both the original and the remake released on 10/7.

    Specs for the remake:
    • Widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions and full screen format; Dolby Digital English and French 5.1 and English Dolby Surround; sub-titled in English and closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired.
    • Cast and crew interviews
    • Six deleted scenes
    • Featurettes on the writers, the stunts, the driving and the film’s Minis
    • Theatrical trailer

    Specs for the original:
    • Widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions; Dolby Digital English 5.1 and restored English Mono; sub-titled in English and closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired.
    • Commentary by producer Michael Deeley and Matthew Field, author of the book "The Making of The Italian Job"
    • Three behind-the-scenes featurettes
    • Deleted scene with commentary by Field
    • Original theatrical and re-release trailers

DVD planet has the date of both movies at 10/7.

Has anybody seen the original and is it worth
buying with the remake? Thanks. [IMG]

My question would be: Is it worth buying the remake with the original?

I'd say "absolutely" Lars. The remake is a lot of fun and you can buy both for about $10 over the cost of buying just one.

What is the 2-pack referring to? Is there a package of both the 1969 version and the 2003 version together? That would be cool.

    Nelson

edit-I re-read the above post. The 2-pack refers to the SE of the 2003 version, correct?
