LOL. Well, in their defense, depending on the car, it might have been made in America... although importing the same model from Japan IS still an option.

I think all the SUVs (4Runner, Rav4, Land Cruiser, and the Tacoma) are still made in Japan though.

I've always dreamed of buying an old, smoking jalopy just so I can put a "SAVE THE PLANET" sticker on the back.

Also want to buy a Lamborghini and put the Domino's Pizza sign on top just to drive around. :D

Yeah I can't tell you how many gas guzzling SUV's I have seen with the "Save the Environment" bumper stickers. Never ceases to amaze me!

"Like a 'Save The Planet' bumper-sticker on a super-sized FORD Excursion, or a morbidly obese woman who sits on her couch eating bag after bag of fat free LAYS potato-chips, All studies confirm that America just doesn't get it."

He was probably a proud American that just got tired of sending the Chevy and Ford to the service department.

Toyotas sold in the US built in both North America and Japan:

Corolla
Camry

Built only in North America:

Sienna
Solara
Matrix
Tacoma
Tundra
Sequoia
Avalon

Built only in Japan:

Highlander
RAV-4
Echo
4-Runner
Land Cruiser
MR-2 Spyder
Celica
Prius

All of the new Scion models are built exclusively in Japan, and to the best of my knowledge so are all Lexus models.

I work for a Toyota dealership in California, which issues special plates for veterans wounded at Pearl Harbor. These plates have a "PH" prefix and a purple heart on them, and are often seen on Toyotas and other Japanese cars.

And chances are his Toyota used less imported oil than his Chevy or Ford.

What was the doctor's specialty?

There are many more people born of indeterminate sex than you might think. There are others who live as one sex while having the chromosomal make-up of the other.

As for US iron--it is good.
Toyotas--they are great cars.
France--it's nice too.
What do they have in common? I have no idea.
Maybe it was French-American iron worker who wanted a reliable and affordable vehicle.

I understand about the people born of indeterminate sex and also the NUMMI plant in Fremont....hence the title "It Just seems wrong"

Has anybody seen the newer packaging on Little Debbie snacks? It has a blue banner that says something like "An American Original". I just thought this looked really strange on a box of SWISS Cake Rolls. To top it off, on the side of the box, it just has the word "Swiss" in enormous type, with the "An American Original" banner in front of it. So from the side, the box essentially says "Swiss: an American Original." Just bizarre.

Are those identity stickers the blue oval ones with a couple letters of a country? I've always wondered what those are for. I see them very often. What are they, anyways?

Brings to mind this quote

"It never ceases to amaze me how many 10MPG SUVs I drive behind with "Save the Environment" and "No Foreign Oil!" Bumper stickers. Uh, Hello?" (Steve Buscemi)
