For some time now I have been thinking about making a isobaric sub. And I was wondering if any one else had
tried this on a sonasub. I am looking for deep resonating
bass. I have not decided on a driver yet. But I will be
using the 16" diameter sonatube. I figure I will make 2
tops. One will be sealed and the other will be ported.
I will then experiment with port lenghts versus sealed to determine which one will suit me best. The woodwork is not a problem I have a friend who is a cabnet maker. So what
considerations should I think about for this project?

in the BASS I am seaking a sonorous experience. Any help
    would be appreciated thanks.

Phill, I'm not an experienced speaker builder but I do have an isobarik sub (not sonotube). Major advantages of this design is that it allows you to cut the box/cabinet size in half. Another advantage is a reduction in some distortion though this may be inaudible. The major disadvantage is, of course, the cost of the extra driver.
Whether the box should be ported or not will depend on the driver. Certain drivers are better suited for sealed boxes while others are better suited for ported boxes. Commonly, the efficiency bandwidth product (EBP) is used to decide. EBP is calculated by dividing a driver's resonant frequency by it's QES. Close to 100 supposedly yields a driver that works well in a ported box while under 50 yields a driver that works well in a sealed box.
    Hope this helps a little.
