Hi, I was just wondering if Windows Media Center 2005 is based on XP Pro or XP Home. I know that Pro has some extra features I might like, like Remote Desktop access. I can't seem top find a straight answer from Microsoft's site or googling.

    Thanks

I'm not sure but I guess it's about time for me to start reading up and learning about Media Center just incase it's required for some of the streaming/storage features of the Xbox 360. I googled a few terms and got lucky with this...

    (1) Like Pro you CAN join a domain, but YOU MUST do so during the initial install; the option will not be available to you ever again; if you do not join a domain in the initial install, you cannot later.

    (2) Remote Desktop, etc. is in MCE, however, it's been changed/rerouted to manage MCE Extenders. You can still use remote desktop, but some of the key features (security modes, disk sharing, etc.) do not work as same in just XP Pro.
