The press release for the Warner Brothers American Outlaws DVD lists the disc's audio tracks as DTS 5.1, DD 5.1 and DD 2.0. Since the only WB DTS DVD titles that I know of were released last year (Lethal Weapon 1,2,3, Twister, Interview with the Vampire). Is this a renewed interest in DTS for Warner Bros.?

    This is interesting.
I am curious to know if this is a error or not.
If not there could be more dts from warner in the future !
I realy hope so , we may be having Harry Potter in dts in the near future !!!! [IMG]

Well, I would be glad if they just started encoding their DD tracks in 448k instead of 384k. WARNER! THERE IS NO EXCUSE!

Just thought I'd add that a new Warner DVD DOES offer DTS. The Madonna Drowned World disc has both DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1! I was shocked to see this. Both mixes are excellent - too bad the image looks like death...

I really think that Warner is releasing some of the best video transfers on DVD! They would probably be my favorite studio for DVD releases if they would support DTS!
Perhaps this is indicative that they might start supporting DTS? I hope so.

Great news, now if we can just get them to stop making those DAMN P&S releases.
And redo all the Vacation movies and all their P&S releases in OAR! I believe this is way more important than dts issues.
I'm sorry I didn't mean to distract the thread with this well known atrocity.
OK I hate to rant and run...........

Not sure about American Outlaws but the rest of Warners DTS titles were amazing!! Why, well for one, they were full bit rate which happens almost never anymore, that and they were all movies that used the DTS very well. I think Warner did the best job yet with DTS, their only problem was they didn't advertise the fact that they were DTS except for a very tiny picture of the DTS logo at the bottom of the package. I know for fact that the titles would sell better if DTS was stated somewhere on the front that was of decent print size.
    Thanks

Chad, I'd definitely buy more Warner titles if they included DTS tracks on thier releases, and so would about 600 or so other people where I work. [IMG]

I will only buy movies that I like and will rewatch, if it has dts great, if not I still like the movie and will buy it. To me a good movie is a good movie and I will buy it and enjoy the track they provide.
I love dts but it does not influence my purchases one way or the other.
Now if there are 2 versions of a movie I want(DD and dts) I would go for the dts.
Heck I would buy more Warners if they were in their OAR.I know most of the new Warner releases are OAR, but they are missing some sales on some good old classics because of P&S!

    Dmitry,
All of the Warner Brothers DTS DVD's were in fact full bitrate encoded soundtracks.

    ...a common misconception.
Theatrical dts is a totally different animal than home dts . While I prefer dts over DD when given a choice, I realize that both are an approximation of the theatrical soundtrack. (At least when we are talking about DVD--laserdisc DD is probably the closest we have gotten to "real" theater sound thus far...)

If anyone knows other wise for sure please corect me but:
Those DTS title from warner to a big hit in picture department. If you look at the picture of re-issue around the same time there is an improvement in quality.
However those title did not look good, bad compression, ghosting, murky you name it. Twister was just unwatchable on my 64 inch PRO-710.
    Just my 2 cents.

HEAT was recently released in Korea as a two disc SpEd.
Disc 1 is 2.35 anamorphic with DD5.1 and Disc 2 is 1.85 anamorphic with dts. Strange, the correct aspect ratio is 2.35. Release is from Bitwin who seem to do first class transers.
