wasn't sure what was the appropriate forum to post this in and since I am beginner still I thought this was best place. Curious if this is a good deal or not. I currently have a Denon AVR-682 Home Box system that I bought almost 3 years ago now. Its been pretty good for me, but if this is a good deal I might consider upgrading.

    Co worker is selling:
Harman Kardon DVD25 DVD player, 1yr
Harman Kardon AVR 325 Audio Video Receiver, 1yr
Athena ASF-1 Front full range speaker/pair, 1yr old
Athena ASB-1 Rear full range bookshelf speaker/pair, 1yr old
Athena ASC-1 center channel speaker, 1yr old
Osiris Speaker stands/pair for rear speakers, 1yr old

Looks like he wants $1200 for all of it. That too much? I did kind of a ruff research and looks like all of that new would be around $1800?

Since you're talking about specific components in a specific complete system, A/V Sources is where you should post it. Basics is for general discussion at the beginner level.

Usually the price of a pre-owned item goes down 30% its original value. With that, the price seems reasonable. If u really like them, haggle first to maybe $900. Someone who has been hit by "upgraditis" might consider ur offer. If not, maybe he'll meet u halfway. But IMHO, I think u can do better with a $1200 budget....but that's just me....[IMG]

Have any recommendations based on that budget? If I could get away with keeping my reciever (Denon 682;• 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms,

    Update:

Looks like he only has the speakers left and he wants $460 for:

Athena AS-F1 Front full range speaker/pair,
Athena AS-B1 Rear full range bookshelf speaker/pair,
    Athena AS-C1 center channel speaker,

I priced this at bestbuy and its $779 for that set. Is this now a better looking deal. Can you get better speakers for $460??

Any fast replies would be great!
