A local person is selling these components for $500 Canadian.

2 Technics Floorstanders with 10" woofers
V2 Paradigm CC-170
Technics Dolby Surround(PL not 5.1) 440 watt receiver
Technics 61 CD changer
Technics dual cassette deck
equipment rack

It looks like a great deal to me. I was talking to him and he says everything is in near-perfect condition.

Currently my parents are trying to upgrade from stereo to 5.1. I figure my parents could have the 2 floorstanders for surrounds and the CC-170 for center.

I could take everything else(using the amp for powering my subwoofer). I would like to buy the compenents individually but the seller says he only wants to sell them as a set.

So what I am asking is, is this a fair price? It seems very low to me. I will go to see and test the stuff before I buy it obviously. What do you guys think?

No sure if it's a deal but 2 things stick out.

First, the CC-170 center is a serious timbre mismatch with the Technics. You will not be happy with the sound.

Second, PL vs 5.1 are 2 different things. PL is Pro Logic.
The current technology is Pro Logic II which does a much better job than Pro Logic of simulating 5.1 sound. Not a big deal for some but something to consider.
