I have a 47" Samsung TV. My gf dad has a 42" hitachi tv. We both have Xbox's hooked up with the same component cables. I setup my tv with a calibration disc from Sound and Design. He did not. But for some reason in 480p, Halo or any game for that matter of fact looks way better on his TV then mine. Colors are way more vibrant. Does my tv just suck when it comes to 480p?

No. Without knowing what equipment you had prior to this, I'd suggest you're simply more used to watching TVs that haven't been calibrated via a set-up/calibration disc such as Video Essentials, AVIA, or the one you're using by Sound & Vision magazine. Sounds like you have to reacclimate yourself to viewing correctly set-up displays (which will always be darker than what most people watch).
