All of the German Concorde releases (available here) have on-disc DRM, so do not need a connection to the Internet to retrieve a licence; as long as the original disc is in the DVD-ROM drive the film will play.
If you have a recent HTPC (P4 2.8+/AMD XP3000+, 512MB RAM/128MB GPU) and WMP9 or 10 installed you should be able to play these discs without any problem. Audio is 440kbps WMA Pro 5.1, video 8.2Mbps 720p.
All of these WMV9 discs appear to be available in Europe, but not through US distribution.. is their a similar region-coding bit? Or will they work in a local, US MCE2005 box ?
I went with the Momitsu when I recently bought an HDTV set, to get that upsampling and DVI/HDMI compatability. I saw the Avel player online, but noticed that it doesn't support DVI/HDMI. I would have got that one, for sure, if it'd had digital connectivity. Sure would like to try some WM9 HD stuff, but I guess it won't be TOO much longer before we have high def DVDs.
Having some problems with the sound on my Underworld HD edition. I can hear the ambience effects but I can´t hear anyone speak. I´ve set the configuration according to Microsoft instructions and everything seems to be correct. Is there anything special you need to do?
