The dolby digital light will light up when a 5.1 source is detected. As well as the DTS light will light up when DTS signal is detected. But if you mean is there a blue light like Sony has for 5.1 sources then no.
great so far 699.00 was the best part.the JVC had lights like a xmas tree when it saw 5.1.some tv stations and discovery channel put out 5.1 and that was a easy way to keep track.
thanks

Yup, thats the light. It has the dobly logo and the word digital below that. It will go off when there is no DD signal.
My Sony DB930 would light up like crazy also when 5.1 was engaged. To me it was such a distraction that I had to use black electrical tape to cover up all the lights.
Now with the 3802 I set the display to off and I all I get now for DVD's is 4 small red dim lights. No distraction now.
