Have a chance to buy at this price. Also what is the 835es or 444es worth?
I have the 333ES which i purchased new in October '99. The 555ES was the 2000 model so it is only a year old. I would try to get it for less than $550. It is certainly worth more than $300 though. It is a good unit, and i have been very happy with mine. I think the ES series is well worth the price over the standard models. I have noticed that in their standard models Sony is quoting wpc at 1 khz and with audible distortion. In the ES models they quote wpc at 20Hz-20Khz with less distortion.

The 555ES is a late 1999 to early 2000 model as well and is NOT worth $550 dollars. It has a rich sound that is dymanic on movies and music, but is a bit dated now. I would not pay more than $350 to $400 for it at the max. Keep in mind that Sony has already announced the new DA5ES receiver and earlier this year, there was the V555ES, and before that was the DA555ES.
