I have a Toshiba 32" flat screen, non HDTV hooked up to a home theater with a Yamaha RX-V530.

I plan on getting a HDTV within the few months. What I would like to know is would the XP-30 be a good DVD player for my current 4:3 television, and for my possible future HDTV?

Thanks. Does anyone know how the video quality on the XP-30 would compare to this?

Why have 12 people viewed this thread, knowing it was asking a question and none responded? Were they expecting free beer or naked women?

The xp30 has been very favorably reviewed, but unless you have a line on one they are almost impossible to find. By the way, I was expecting free beer and naked women in this thread. :D

I've never heard a difference between coax and optical outputs. Doesn't matter in your case because the XP30 does not have a coaxil output anyway. It's a great player but you might have a hard time finding now.

Also, if you use the search function for XP30, you'll get numerous hits.

The xp-30 is a terrific player. I picked mine up a few weeks ago at the Sharper Image in Dallas. You can get this online at the sharper image website. I'm using the player with progressive scan on a 106 inch 16x9 screen and it's fabulous. The audio is great too. Can't tell any difference in sound using the optical connection compared to the coaxial connection I used on my older player. Good Luck. :)
