I know it'll cost me more(499.00)for the Integra 5.3 but is it really worth that much more over the Onkyo??The price is thru a local retailer but I can't locate a single dealer on line to match it against.

Which Onkyo are you comparing it too? If it's the Onkyo 601 the current retail price for it is also $499. The Integra 5.3 is nearly identical to the Onkyo 601, except for the A-bus feature. There is a new model that is just coming out, DTR 5.4 so try to get even more off the 5.3 knowing it's last year's model
I tried looking online for an Integra dealer too, but Integra is only sold at select specialty stores (who usually have ridiculous markups). Integra is the higher quality controlled line, whereas Onkyo is the mass market line. I wrote Onkyo a few days ago and this is their reply.

Thank You for contacting Onkyo USA Product Support.

    Integra vs Onkyo Advantages

Ø Integra engineered power supplies-Labeled Integra

Ø Extensive use of coupling caps throughout the signal paths

    Ø Precision matched parts selection

Ø Detachable Hi-Current Oxygen Free power cable

Ø Multi-Room capable on all models

    Ø 3-Year Warranty

Ø 12-V triggers on selected models- Home Automation

    Ø Unique Integra cosmetics

Ø The feature differences are minor and audible performance differences are due to the limited production runs and precise parts quality control used in manufacturing of the Integra models.

Which Onkyo are you comparing it to and how much is it?
It looks like it compares with the Onkyo TX-SR601 which runs about the same price you quoted for the Integra 5.3. You get 3 yr warranty with the Integra opposed to 2 yr with the Onkyo so unless the comparable Onkyo is much cheaper it would probably pay to get the Integra. Quality and sound wise I'd say they are probably close to indistiguishable. BTW, I have owned an Onkyo TX-SR797 and an Integra DTR-7. They are both very nice and fairly identical. That's a great price for the 5.3.
