I am intrested in the AVR 225 and when I went to H/K's site and I couldn't tell if this reciever had this ability as well or not..

To clearify, I am not talking about the DPL2-is L7 mode (surround sound processing of stereo/mono sources) but "full blown" Logic 7 (7 channel processing of 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital) ala the high-zoot Lexicons...

I believe the AVR8000 wasn't even documented in the first versions of its instruction manual (nice going Harman international) to have this very desirable feature and I wonder if any other H/K recievers can do L7 processing on 5.1 sources?

Yes, the 8000 is the only HK that does Logic 7 on 5.1 material. I went to the HK sight and downloaded the specs and it's clear it does Logic 7 on 5.1 material. A strong selling point I think since the next thing you can get is Lexicon.

I thought the 7000 did too?
I saw a blurb for the 225 in S&V that implied that Logic 7 did work with 5.1 sources.
The manual is on their site. Anyone ever get motivated to look through it? [IMG]

I own an unused 7000...it does not apply Logic7 to 5.1 sources.

Only the 8000 does 7.1 Logic 7 from 5.1 source. I have the 7000 and it does not. I have the 520 and it does not.

And I seriously doubt that Harman is ever going to let that precious commodity trickle down to anything lower than perhaps a new model higher than the 5 series anyway.

From the bottom of column 1, page 18 of the AVR-225 manual:

"Note also, the Logic 7 is not available with digital playback unless a two-channel bitstream is in use."

Scott- Drats. That would probably take it off the table (and mine as well) for the 525...
I guess I can still hope for a "cheap" Lex then... [IMG]

Yes, I also read in the newest S&V that the 225 *could* apply L7 to 5.1 sources, ala the AVR 8000
Keep in mind, the first versions of the AVR 8000's manual did not state this as possible either, even though it was the case (L7 processing on DD/DTS 5.1)
The H/K manual is not what you would call a "reliable source" [IMG]
