There's a new two disc Saving Private Ryan D-Day 60th Anniversary Commemorative Edition coming out the 25th May. That will include a DTS track. No other details yet though...

Yeah, but will the DTS be as good with the DD5.1 track on it as well?

It will probably be the same DTS track. I believe this was the first release to use half-bitrate DTS to begin with.

I'll buy this new release if it sports a new transfer. The old one has way too much edge enhancement for my taste.

I've attached the artwork below. As for disc specs, you can expect an inside look with the filmmakers, a Looking into the Past: Research, Screenplay and the Vision feature, a Making of a Platoon featurette, a look at the boot camp for the cast, Re-Creating D-Day: Omaha Beach and more.

I was about to buy the 'Special Limited Edtition' on DVD yesterday. But some inner voice inside my head said there's gonna be an even better release of your fave WWII film coming within 9 months.
Good thing I listened to that! SPR 2-Disc Special Edition here I come! Hooyah! [IMG]

Damnit! And I just bought the 2 disc set from Brazil! Who the hell thought we'd get another edition of this???

Did Spielberg have anything to do with it?

Btw...once I pick this up...it'll be my 4th time buying this movie. *sigh*

We could submit a query... I wish I knew Steven a little bit better before I asked this to him. Mebbe he thought it was the right time for a 2-Disc DVD-9 (both) for this? I'd completely agree with this.

Maybe the release has something to do with the 60th anniversary of D-Day... [IMG]

P.S. Is this gonna be released to R2? I hope it is for your sake. Why should a different Region get a different release than other Regions? All regions should get the same types of DVD releases no matter what. Damn 'different consumer' shit. A DVD 'freak' (I can say that because I consider myself one) should not have to deal with this situation. We should all get the best of the best of the best. Final comment.
