I just bought a 250w parts express plate amp (300-793) and plan to match it with a adire shiva driver.

The driver hasn't come in yet, so I hooked it up to my friends pioneer diamondplated car sub (200w Max 4ohm). It didn't go very loud at all. My receiver was at +6db for subout It was 3/4 cranked and it wasn't even that loud. Would it be any louder with a shiva hooked up?

I hooked it back up to my friends 180w car amp and it was so much louder.

Does anyone have good experiences with this amp?

I run a SVS 25-31 in a medium sized room, I have my pre/pro at -10 and the plate amp is about 1/2 way turned up. Works for me

I have a Tempest in a 260L enclosure tuned to 16hz with a 6" port using the Adire equivalent to that amp. I have it set at about 7/10 of full. Then on my Onkyo receiver I have the sub output 18dB below the mains (sub -10, mains at +8) and the sub is still running a few dB hot.

Alex, dont forget that when you're testing you're testing in your house right? the acoustics of a car and a room are quite different.. anything will sound louder in a confined space like a car..

With my PE 250watt plate amp and my 15inch Dayton DVC in 5.3cf sealed in my HT, I crack 120db @ 45hz [IMG]
With my Kicker Impulse 352xi (75x1) and my 10inch Orion XTR in my car, I only get 118db @ 45hz [IMG]

Could it be that the bass boost on the plate amp is currently disabled. I just heard my brothers home subwoofer in my home, and it puts out twice as much as mine. His is only rated at 150W.
